Kort om mig
I write psychological thrillers and dystopian fiction, and enjoy throwing morally grey heroines into impossible situations to watch disaster unfold.
My books have sold nearly a million copies worldwide in multiple languages, through both independent and traditional publishing; the German edition of my debut novel, "The Devil's Grin," won an award.
Before fiction, I worked mainly as a research scientist, was ranked among Germany's top scientists in marine and freshwater biology, and was awarded the "O.K. Earl Prize Fellowship" by Caltech, and the "Helmholtz Professorship for Promoting Excellent Women in Science" by the Helmholtz Association.
This science and fiction double life still shapes everything I write.
Vad jag gör under författarbesöken
Depending on what you need, I offer:
Author talks and readings: About my books, about building a career across both indie and traditional publishing, and about the unlikely road from science to fiction.
Writing workshops, coaching and mentoring: for writers, students, and scientists. I've led more than twenty international science writing workshops and helped young poets via the Afghan Women's Writing Project. I've built a community for neurodivergent creatives where I coach writers.
Science meets storytelling: Talks and workshops on communicating research through narrative, drawing on over twenty years in science.
I work in English and German.
