Kort om mig
In 2016 French historian Martine Carlsson decided to write books that seemed unavailable in shops. As a fan of King’s horror stories, Cohen Brothers’ gritty realism, and Palahniuk’s liberating nihilism, Carlsson wanted to read books that could mix these styles, but also with characters queer could use as role models. When Carlsson grew up, the representation of queer people was limited to caricatures. No characters were brave, tough, and happened to be queer. Twenty-five years later, the queer representation has bloomed without a real evolution of the stereotypes, and the controversial ideas and brazen stories have vanished from the mainstream market. Carlsson’s first book, Rising from dust introduces the philosophy of the French revolution to a medieval-fantasy society. In Tears of winter and Born to liberty, Carlsson shows how the new ideas of liberty and equality not only have an impact on the population, but have inherent paradoxes.
Carlsson’s Light from aphelion is a fantasy series mixing gritty realism, geopolitics, queer love, horror, and is rich with historical details.
